CHOOSE NEXUS

Thank you for choosing NEXUS! I am amazed at the many dynamic leaders that chose to participate in this year’s class as Mentors and Protégés, the many key-leaders that chose to teach our monthly sessions, the many incredible volunteers that are dedicated by serving on our Board of Directors and committees, and the local corporations and foundations that choose to invest in NEXUS!

At the beginning of this NEXUS year, the Board of Directors revised the NEXUS Mission to read: “To encourage and equip the next generation of leaders for Memphis through proven mentoring, teaching, and service.”  The words for Memphis and service were added to represent what NEXUS means to so many and to our city.  This year’s mentors and protégés served Memphis and each other, all to make Memphis a better place.

I have enjoyed seeing the NEXUS Protégés and Mentors connect and grow alongside each other. Together we listened, learned, and laughed with outstanding speakers, including Don Hutson, Author, Speaker & CEO of Don Hutson Sales Growth Specialist; Ephie Ballard-Johnson, President & CEO for the Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc., Rajesh Subramaniam, Executive Vice President, Marketing & Communications for FedEx, and many other leaders that choose to make a difference in our city on a daily basis.

The NEXUS Class of 2017 served Memphis and volunteered with non-profit partners including the Memphis Union Mission, Neighborhood Christian Centers, and the Target House.

NEXUS continues to host many special events throughout the year that bring current participants and alumni together such as the annual NEXUS Night Out, which takes place in the fall and was hosted this year at the home of NEXUS Alumni Sally and Ashley Pace.  In February, we hosted the Annual Leadership Luncheon, which provides an opportunity for community leaders, NEXUS alumni, and current participants to come together and learn more about the impact mentoring can have on individuals and our city. We also honored those choosing to make a difference through mentoring with our Memphis Mentoring Awards.

I hope you continue to choose NEXUS and connect with the NEXUS Network. As we begin recruitment for the upcoming NEXUS Class, I look forward to meeting the future leaders of Memphis.
