Mentoring Matters

I am a graduate of the NEXUS class of 2014, and for me, the program really accomplished its mission. I was in the program during a really transitional time in my life, and it was the best thing I could have done at that point. I was able to fully commit to NEXUS, because the program is so concentrated. It didn’t require a lot of my time, but I got so much out of my participation. I learned invaluable leadership skills through my mentor, the monthly speakers, and the various team building activities. NEXUS really showed me the value of mentoring through any and every stage of life. My mentor and I have built a close friendship over the last year, and it was so meaningful to have a woman in my life who was solely there to challenge me and lift me up. I was able to use her experience for my gain as I bounced ideas off of her and learned from her wisdom. Through NEXUS, I have become a more well-rounded leader, and I recommend it to almost everyone I meet. Among many other things, NEXUS taught me that if you take steps towards leadership and get involved in your community, there are no limits to what you can accomplish. I think anyone can benefit from this program, and there is no reason not to get involved in NEXUS.
