May 2020
The past few months have been a challenge for all of us as we learn to navigate personally and professionally in this pandemic environment. The NEXUS Class of 2020 mentors and protégés embraced social distancing and found ways to stay connected with each other and their cohort. We have seen now more than ever how strong the NEXUS Network is and how our protégés and mentors are building lasting relationships.
The NEXUS Class of 2020 graduation took place virtually via ZOOM with a message from Mayor Lee Harris on how to lead through change. NEXUS now has over 950 graduate leaders, all with the passion for mentoring, leadership, and our city.
The NEXUS Board of Directors recently asked, “How do we continue to deliver NEXUS in this environment?” As we plan for the Class of 2021, we will build on current changes we have made and take measures to provide a safe and healthy environment for our participants, paired with an interactive and engaging experience. I have confidence in the staff, NEXUS volunteers and the Board to be intentional, deliberate, and innovative in delivering the program for the upcoming class.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to those committed individuals and partners who share our vision of building a stronger Memphis through the duplication of principle-centered leaders. Your ongoing support ensures the success of the program each year. Our partners include AutoZone, Baptist Memorial Health Care, eBiz Solutions, FedEx, First Horizon Foundation, International Paper Foundation, Kemmons Wilson Family Foundation, and The Marston Group.
On behalf of the NEXUS Board of Directors, congratulations to the Class of 2020!
Sincerely,
Bathsheba Sams
NEXUS Board Chairman
