Captain Matt Gandy returns to NEXUS as the speaker for the November 3 NEXUS Session. Matt is currently Managing Director Air Safety & Regulatory Compliance for FedEx and will be speaking on the topic of “Planning as a Leader”.

As Managing Director of Air Safety and Regulatory Compliance, Matt is responsible for overseeing Air Operation’s portfolio of flight safety and risk management programs, with a focus on continual improvement and technological applications throughout the FedEx Safety Management System (SMS).

Matt is a Boeing 767 Captain and has served in several leadership positions, including Assistant System Chief Pilot, Boeing 757/767 Chief Pilot, Manager of Fleet Standardization, and Assistant Chief Pilot. Hired in 2001, he has also flown the B727, DC10, and B757 – serving as an instructor and check airman for many years. Matt is a two-time recipient of the prestigious FedEx Five Star Award, one of the company’s highest honors.

A graduate of Oklahoma State University, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation. His wife Mindy is also a FedEx 767 pilot, and they reside in Memphis, Tennessee with their daughter, Mia.
